Macaron inspired Nikes..

I don’t love Nikes but these are pretty slick (photo credits: Edward Chiu in London):

also lookie here:

yup those are semi-successful green colored macarons with raspberry buttercream filling i MADE.  It was all in the drying..a simple step i always neglected.  After meticulously creating the batter, ALWAYS dry for at least 30 minutes!!  This will ensure a ”foot” will occur.   The cream didn’t maintain the right consistency (the butter and raspberry jam kept separating), but still this is PROGRESS!!

BOOYA!!!!

Atelier Kawashima

Atelier– an artist’s studio or workroom

Kawashima– the last name of the wonderful creators of Atelier Kawashima french macarons.

From left to right: Lemon, grapefruit with pomegranate jelly filling, blueberry, raspberry:

From left to right: chocolate, pistachio, chestnut with matcha green tea filling, hawaiian red sea salt with caramel filling:

Atelier Kawashima Macarons lived up to their fancy name.  I bought them for a work party and words used to describe  them were always ”tasty” , ”surprisingly chewy and deliciously dense (first time macaron eater)”, and ”simply delicious”.

Atelier Kawashima is based in Kentfield, CA but their delicious macarons can now be found at Bi-Rite Market in SF, Comforts in San Anselmo among others..

only bright lights ahead..
